I am currently LOVING Tambourine, released in 2011. You know when you hear something and you get just a little bit excited about it? Well, this is one of those things. Teeth & Tongue is the Melbourne-based project of Jess Cornelius and various other musicians (with the current line-up including Damian Sullivan, James Harvey, Marc Regueiro-McKelvie and Cheyenne Harper). Cornelius was born in New Zealand but I believe that we can now claim her as one of our own; we’re pretty good at doing that down Melbourne way.

Now, I have seen Teeth & Tongue play before but perhaps didn’t appreciate the band as much as I should have; I wish I’d listened to Tambourine earlier. Well, that sometimes happens, can’t do much about it, hey? Teeth & Tongue has supported other quality acts including J. Mascis, The Drones, The Mountain Goats, Laura Marling, Courtney Barnett, Jack Ladder, Adalita and Dan Kelly, as well as Paul Kelly on his 2017 American tour, so is clearly making a good impression!

This album really is lovely, so please have a listen if you’re unfamiliar with it. If I had to pick some fave tracks, I’d go for Vaseline On The Lens and Release Your Burden. Happiness is also great. Who knows, this just might be my next fortnightly vinyl purchase!
